Ferret gets H1N1 from owner

Oregon's state veterinarian is reporting the first suspected case of H1N1 influenza transmission from a human to an animal.

The Oregonian reported in its online edition that a ferret was brought to an unidentified veterinary clinic with respiratory problems. The owner was apparently experiencing flu symptoms shortly before the ferret fell ill, and an Oregon State University lab confirmed a strain of H1N1 in the animal.
