The U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has announced that enforcement of the Red Flags Rule will be delayed again.
The enforcement deadline for the rules has been postponed several times already, and the rules were set to go into effect on Nov. 1. But the FTC announced on Oct. 30 that the deadline will be pushed back to June 1, 2010.
The rules require creditors and financial institutions (as defined by the agency) to develop and implement written anti-identity theft policies. Many veterinary practices are affected by the rule.
